6 Principles

CENTERING
For me, centering is the cultivation of authentic presence and stability from within — the foundation not only for connected movement, but also for a deeply connected and fulfilling life (within the Romana’s Pilates method).

BREATH
Breath is the lifeline. It’s the fire behind a singing a note, the strength inside a movement, and the energy that makes both come alive.
-Chelsea Bain

RHYTHM/ FLOW
Flow is the ability use the other five principles of Pilates in harmony, while never letting one overpower the others.
-Amanda Owens.

CONTROL
For me, one aspect of Control is being able to stop in any position of the exercise and hold the position while maintain all the other principles of Romana's Pilates Method.
-Jennifer Winitz-Grensback

CONCENTRATION
Concentration is focusing the mind to direct the body into the desired form for every movement.
-Melissa Derstine

PRECISION
Movement without precision is like an orchestra playing without tuning the musical instruments, precision is the basis of harmony and the pursuit of perfection.
